JAZZ
Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet as it encourages grace and balance. Each class starts with a warm up, center floor work & across the floor combinations. Jazz is a combination of a variety of styles of dance: ballet, African dance, Musical Theater, Modern, and social dances. Jazz dance has a firm technique and strength base, allowing for individualized movement. Jazz is a great form of dance for any age, developing strength and flexibility. Tumble
Tumbling is a very high energy class that focuses on stamina, muscle strength, and flexibility through repetition of movement. These skills transfer easily to such activities as cheerleading and gymnastics. In tumbling, dance elements are not as frequently incorporated and often involve executing skills from a running preparation rather than a choreographed dance preparation. ACRO
Acro dance is a style that combines the techniques of classical dance with acrobatic movements. This form of dance is very athletic and has unique choreography to incorporate gymnastic-like elements into dance. Acro is usually taught and performed without major equipment and dance elements are utilized within the acrobatic technique. |
Ballet
Ballet classes are the foundation for training and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body (epaulement), and use of arms (port de bras). Class begins with work at the barre to build strength and coordination, followed by center exercises, culminating in a grand allegro combination or variation. Clear explanations of exercises and theory help students use the ballet vocabulary in a simple, practical way that leads to increased technical understanding, healthy physical development, and lifelong enjoyment. |
LYRICAL
Lyrical dance style has its primary basis in ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. It is typically considered a sub-category of jazz and/or contemporary dance, the latter itself being an emerging category. Lyrical dance is expressive, simultaneously subtle and dynamic, focused on conveying musicality and emotion through movement. It is a combination of intricate, highly technical, and pedestrian/naturalistic moves. Lyrical will focus on bodylines, balance, and sustained extensions. Students of lyrical are strongly encouraged to study ballet and Jazz simultaneously for the best possible lyrical dance experience. . |
